Police, Firefighters and EMT's are at the top of my public safety agenda. These brave men and women, our first responders, put their lives on the line to keep us safe and secure. Their bravery merits our firm and unwavering support.

As the great-grandson of the founding secretary of the Chicago Firefighters Union and grandson of a Chicago Police Officer this commitment is very personal and deeply held.

Even as we struggle with budget in Illinois, we can’t lose sight of supporting priorities like public safety. Our first responders deserve the best training, quality equipment and fair work rules our state can provide. These professional must be given the proper resources to keep our communities safe

The return on this investment is immeasurable.

Furthermore, the families of those who serve, equally deserve or support. Everyday they send their loved ones into the unknown, I am committed to honoring their sacrifice.
